Sony geared up for the impending launch of Gran Turismo for the PSP by launching a special Limited Edition Gran Turismo pack. The special run mates the older, UMD-based PSP-3000 in silver with a copy of the racing game, a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, and download codes for the in-game version of the white Corvette ZR1 seen on the cover, a free movie from Sony’s PSN video store and 10 songs from its Mac- and PC-ready Music Pass service. At its Gamescom press conference in Germany overnight, Sony announced that yes, the PlayStation 3 is indeed a reality and will be in shops in New Zealand on September 3.
I heard former PlayStation New Zealand head Warwick Light, and the man who gave me the scoop about Sony’s PlayTV before the rest of the world knew about it and before Sony had officially announced it, on the radio this morning saying the PS3 Slim, which featured a 120Gb HDD, was 36% lighter, 32% smaller and used 34% less power than the standard PS3. The new generation PSP has come out, the pics also released yet. From the well-known game site 1UP, it revealed a video show what the new handheld game console, PSP GO is. According to the report that, PSP Go is confirmed that the system drops the UMD disc drive, and now boasts a new 3.8-inch screen, 16 gigabytes of flash memory and Bluetooth support. According to their latest official blog post, Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 3 firmware upgrade, version 2.70, will add a few interesting new features, most notably Text Chat that will allow users to have a chat room with up to 15 other PSN users using any keyboard peripheral or the on-screen keyboard. Sony says you can be a participant in up to three chats at one time, and even use it in-game.
