The first PS3 Customized Firmware has been released by the TeaM-Acid1C on Dec 14, which enables full write access to the dev_flash on PS3’s internal flash memory.

The TeaM-Acid1C has released their revised version of Firmware 3.41- Acid CFW 3.41.010, which steps a minor step in the function, but a huge step on the jailbreaking history. This CFW 3.41.010 for PS3  enables some extra debug console options, and adds  a new menu category: Haxx. This is only the small star of Acid CFW, and there are many future functions are under developing. They want to get this stable CFW version out there for more thorough testing in the wider community.

This firmware needs a lot of complete tests. The method is very easy, just to replace the internal flash memory files or run from USB firmware conductor. As the Acid CFW 3.41 010 function is not that strong, we don’t suggest the normal gamers to download and try it.

PlayStation Phone comes back again. But at this time, two new clear videos are posted to show the entire body of PlayStation Phone. The PlayStation Phone is codenamed Zeus Z1 and shows off it gaming function and the Android OS. PlayStation Phone adopts the side slide design with a oblong  touchpad and game control buttons, and is equipped with a 3.7~4.1 inch Bravia touch screen with the resolution of 800×480.

The PlayStation icon is listed in the menu which can be seen clearly in the video.  PlayStation phone features the PlayStation gaming function, and compatible to run the  PSP games.  It’s a pity that no games are available on this phone in the video. So we don’t know the gaming status in the PlayStation Phone. There is no analog stick on the PlayStation Phone, but the touch screen can provide more possibilities for PlayStation Phone gaming experience.

This PlayStation Phone is powered by Android Gingerbread OS. It comes with 512 MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM and a 1GHz Snapdragon Processor.

A 5 MP camera is placed  on the back of PlayStation Phone, which supports LED flash light and 720P recording.

According to the previous information, Sony Ericsson is going to have a special presentation  in France on Dec 9. This Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone with the gaming function is expected to release on Dec 9th. Let’s just wait and see.

Kinect for Xbox 360 has been hacked to run on a PC, it was only a matter of time before someone to make the Kinect  play a video game. Finally, the hacker Yankeyan, who bought us the lightsaber, has made it happen. He can  use a hacked Kinect  to control Super Mario game by his movement on a PC.
After the Kinect is connected with the PC, a NES simulator is needed to run Super Mario. And then gamers can turn into the plumber to enjoy the fun of this old game.
In the video, the Kinect can recognize his motions and virtual button presses onto the emulator, but there seems are some lag while playing. Yankeyan writes, “I could have placed a simulated keypad right in front of me that I can press with my hands, but I thought full body gestures were more in the spirit of Kinect. Of course, Mario isn’t designed to be played like this, so this is really really hard.”

Anyway, it’s really a great improvement in the hacking. Let’s wait for the new surprise of the hacked Kinect in the future.

Hackers are very fond of hacking Kinect currently. Just a few weeks after Kinect officially release,  various masterly applications for hacked Kinect appear. Let’s have a brief review.  

Kinect Different Usage
When Oliver Kreylos, a computer scientist,  know about Kinect  for Xbox 360, he couldn’t wait to get one. He said  he dropped everything,  rushed to the closest store to bought one.  However, he wasn’t interested in playing video games with a Kinect.

Mr Kreylos, who specializes in virtual reality and 3D graphics, had just realizes that he could download some software to use Kinect on his computer. Later, he created holographic video pictures with a Kinect which can be rotated on the computer screen. Last week, he uploaded this video to YouTube which surprised many people and has been viewed 1.3 million times.

Besides Mr. Kreylos, many programmers, roboticists and amateurs also try to make Kinect work on other purposes. The attraction of Kinect is that the cameras, sensors and software that the Kinect is equipped with can detect motion, depth, shape and position of human body.

Microsoft Response
Microsoft has had two different responses since the Kinect was launched on Nov 4. At first, Microsoft made a vague warning about working with law enforcement to forbid this kind of hacking. But by last week, Microsoft began to accept  the hack of Kinect.
The Senior Director of Xbox Live, Craig Davidson said:” Anytime there is engagement and excitement around our technology, we see that as a good thing. It’s naive to think that any new technology that comes out won’t have a group that tinkers with it.”

In the first day of Kinect for sales, $3000 bounty was offered by Adafruit Industries for the hacker who created and released an open source of Kinect to make it work without an Xbox 360.
Finally, a hacker named Hector Martin hacked the Kinect successfully and released the Open Source, and won the bounty. In a few days,  it spured lots of hackers creativity in short order.

1. Miniority Report-Style Multitouch with a Kinect
One idea was “A Minority Report-style user interface where you can open, move, and close windows with your movements.” In one uploaded video, we can see that a hacker uses a Kinect for Minority Report-style multitouch.

2. 3D Doodles with a Kinect
Some creative users make the Kinect draw 3D doodles in the air, and then rotating them with the hands.

3. Puppet Show with a Kinect
Other people use Kinect to control a colorful cartoon puppet on a computer screen. The puppet is the work of design firm Design I/O, who make the  Kinect recognize the human arm movement and map it onto the computer bird puppet projected onto the wall.

4. Kinect Makes a Broomstick Become a Lightsaber
The hacker Yankeyan make the Kinect  allows you to take something as simple as a wooden stick and watch as it is transformed into a real-time lightsaber on your television screen (Yankeyan even added lightsaber movement sound effects).

5. KinectBot Robot
Philipp Robbel, a PH.D. candidate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, spent a week to combine the Kinect and iRobot Greate, and finally design a new product named  KinectBot. It can detect human being with Kinect sensor, respond to gesture and voice commands, and generate 3D maps by the things it is seeing as it rolls through a room.

Mr. Robbel said KinectBot provided a small glimpse into the future of machines that may be used in the search for surviveors after a natural disaster.

He describes the wave of Kinect experimentation only the tip of the iceberg. With more and more people using Kinect, “We are going to see an exponential number of videos and tests over the coming weeks and months as more people get their hands on this device.”

Join Xbox Team
Sometimes, hacking Kinect could go beyond a kind of avocation; it could potentially lead to a job. In late 2007, Johnny Lee, who currently studied at Carnegie Mellon University, has used Wii to design a game system that can track his head motion and adjust screen perspective accordingly.

Once he put this video to YouTube, it got a lot of attention. By 2008 Jul, he got a job in the Kinect kernel core team and in charge of developing the software which can recognize gamers’ movement.
Johnny said: “the Wii video made me much more visible to the products people at Xbox. They were that much more interested in me because of the videos. “
Johnny also said he is very happy to see the response of many congenial people to Kinect. He added：“ I’m glad to see they are inspired and that they like the technology. I believe them will be able to do really cool things with the Kinect.”

The fight between Sony and PS3 Jailbreak continues again.  Sony has released firmware 3.50 to block PS3 Jailbreaking of many third party USB devices and forbid any kind of PS3 Jailbreaking, even the Firmware for GT5 has also been delayed to next year. But it seems that all Sony’s previous efforts are wasted.

PS Jailbreak announces on their official website that their Jailbreak USB can support new firmware 3.50, 3.42  and beyond. But at this time, PS Jaibreak choose to avoid head-on clash with Sony, instead of making your PS3 downgrade to earlier version of firmware to bypass new firmware 3.50 and 3.42 in order to jailbreak games successfully.

Sony has not reacted to PS Jailbreak till now.  Though Sony doesn’t condone this jailbreak apparently, it becomes clear that PS3 might never be safe from jailbreaking.

Soon after the Kinect open source driver released, a developer, Theo Watson makes Kinect for Xbox 360 run on Mac OS X with current open source library to the Mac.

In Watson’s video, Mac OS X is compatible with the Kinect well. The video stream from the Kinect is able to be captured using an open source PC tool created earlier called libfreenect.

Watson explains that he changes some libusb commands and transfer sizes of Hector Martin’s open source to get Kinect running. Kinect is available to work on the Mac OS X 10.6.3 after running the modded driver to gain depth and RGB image.

However,  we  still can’t control anything with the Kinect on the Mac,  there is a hope that we may  be able to play Mac and PC video games with Kinect in the future.

On Nov 10, Kinect open source driver has been released for public use two days after NUI Group’s AlexP announced their successful hacking of Kinect via PC. The Kinect open source driver is not released by them who want to take it as a secret, but another hacker named as Hector Martin.

Adafruit has released the complete data about Kinect open source on the official blog, and offers $3000 reward to Hector Martin who provide Kinect open source driver as promised. What’ more, they also donate $ 2000 to EFF.

Hector, said in the email to Adafruit that, “this is my  Kinect driver, which supports depth and RGB image and enable to show in the OpenGL window. Although it is very original, it has already proved our idea.”

Adafruit verify Hector Kinect open source driver and turns out that it really works. The picture below is that  Kinect is controlled by the open source driver via PC.

Hector completes hacking Kinect on a Linux laptop. Though he doesn’t have an Xbox 360, Hector also can use Kinect to do the related operation with Kinect open source driver on his laptop. Hector decides to invest this bounty to some hacker groups which have a good relationship with him.

Note: Kinect motion sensor for Xbox 360 comes with RGB camera, Depth sensor, Depth sensor and Multi-array Microphone to track gamers’ 3D motion and recognize their face and voice. Kinect can track up to 6 gamers simultaneously, but only two gamers can control the game at one time.

PSPGEN announced to release PSP 6.20 TN HEN before Christmas recently on their official website. Total_Noob email inbox has been  always full of emails consulting about 6.20 TN HEN since then. In order to finish 6.20 TN HEN as soon as possible, Total_Noob clears up a list of 6.20 TN HEN FAQ to help gamers understand it better.

Notice：Total_Noob 6.20 TN is a HEN program, but not a CFW.

What is a HEN?

HEN is a homebrew enabler between a CFW ( Custom Firmware) and eLoader ( Eboot Loader)，which patches PSP system exploit  to make the homebrews run by forbidding the PSP security formula set by Sony. With the HEN, most functions of PSP can run well. The Differences between the HEN and  eLoader：

1. A HEN can run the homebrews directly from the XMB of PSP；

2. A HEN need to be restarted after rebooting the PSP.

Does a HEN only differ from an eLoader in whether the homebrews can run from the XMB?

No，an eLoader relies on the Exploit named as “User”, while the HEN is based on the Exploit named as “Kernel”. Therefore, an eLoader usually can not easily access and edit the PSP flashes. As for a HEN, it can access, edit, add even delete the files at will (To delete files randomly may be dangerous). With the Kernel Exploit, HEN can easily boot some eLoader applications that users hope to use, such as ISO, plugins installation, downgrade, Pandora battery and so on.

What’s the differences between a HEN and a CFW?

It is difficult to answer this question. The answer varies from the different HEN applications used. Due to lack of a CFW for HEN, HEN can not run ISO, VSH menu and Recovery menu directly.

What is the development of Total_Noob and the 6.20 TN HEN he develops？

Total_Noob develops a HEN named as 6.20 TN independently, which aims at the official firmware 6.20.

Why is the official firmware 6.20,  and not others?

Total_Noob shows that the kernel exploit he makes use of exists both in the firmware 6.30 and 6.31. This Exploit is quite unstable on all the system firmwares unless hackers are willing to spend more time making it possible.

Currently, it turns out that the new official firmware 6.31 is able to load 6.20 TN HEN, but requires users have an original game named as Everybody’s Golf (not everybody has one). However, using the exploit in the free demo of Patapon 2, 6.20 TN HEN can be loaded on the firmware 6.20 to get access to HBL ( Half Byte Loader) , which is available for more users and make Total_Noob’ s hacking job more valuable.

Is there a chance that the HEN can be compatible with the firmware 6.30/31?

Actually, Total_Noob focused on hacking firmware 6.31 at the beginning, and can still continue. However, the hacking of firmware 6.31 is incompatible currently. Total_Noob has already confirmed that the direction of HEN is to apply to firmware 6.31. But not only the users but the hackers suggest Total_Noob to delay the hacking of firmware 6.31 and focus more on the hacking of firmware 6.20 which has broader users.

Is 6.20 TN HEN compatible with all models of PSP?

Yes, 6.20 TN HEN has been tested on the PSP 1000 and PSP 2000 by Total_Noob. Wololo, the developer of HBL, has tested 6.20 TN HEN on PSP 3000 and PSP Go recently. All the tests on the above models of PSP are available.

Can 6.20 TN HEN brick a PSP？

6.20 TN HEN will not brick the PSP. The reason of bricked PSP is the improper operation of Flash0 document by users（so we have to be very careful in using the flash0 document while playing the PSP.）.

Dose 6.20 TN HEN influence the functioning of a PSP?

It doesn’t influence the functioning normally. 6.20 TN HEN is the patch for the firmware, which only opens a back door to allow homebrew to run normally. 6.20 TN HEN gets involved in some flashes related to the PSP, but this action is harmless.

With the 6.20 TN HEN，is the HBL already out of time?

No. The HBL will be probable to be used less, but there are two reasons to remain HBL:

1. We need the HBL to load 6.20 TN HEN;

2. It’s possible that some homebrews can not run on the 6.20 TN HEN，but could be compatible with the HBL.

Is the 6.20 TN HEN able to run all the homebrews?

Currently, PSPGen author believes that about 92% of homebrews can be booted, meaning not all the homebrews. PSPGen group is working on to improve it.

What about plugins?

6.20 TN HEN doesn’t have recovery  and VSH menu, which is essential for plugin management, so a simple HEN will not be able to install and run a plugin. However, a homebrew can realize the plugin management. For example, the homebrew PRXLauncher based on 5.03 HEN from Davee can manage the pulgins, so can the homebrew based on 6.20 HEN.

Can the 6.20 TN HEN run ISO games?

6.20 TN HEN can not run the ISO game on the PSP and PS directly. But it is possible that other experienced hackers may work out an ISO or CFW to implement this function. Total_Noob has already said that he would not work on such a program.

Is 6.20 TN HEN able to install a CFW for HEN?

It’s certainly possible to develop a CFW for 6.20 TN HEN，and it’s said that some hackers are already working on it. But the so-called CFW which can run ISO in the firmware 6.20 are obviously fakes, because we never know about these people, not to mention the fact that they don’t have the 6.20 TN HEN.

What can the 6.20 TN HEN do?

1. PSP 1000 (fat) – it may be possible to create a Pandora battery based on HEN and install the CFW 5.50 GEN.
2. PSP 2000(slim) –
* Non-v3 version can be possible to create a Pandora battery based on HEN.
* V3 version can install the CFW based on HEN and plugins.
3. PSP 3000 – It can install the CFW based on HEN.
4. PSP go – It can install the CFW based on HEN.

Now the 6.20 TN HEN isn’t launched, can I downgrade my PSP from firmware 6.20 to 5.31 to install 5.03 GEN?

Downgrading, which means to change flash0 inevitably, is very risky,  or even impossible. It is equal to suicide to do so for ordinary gamers. As the downgrade software hasn’t come out yet, this kind of irreversible operation is very risky.

When will 6.20 TN HEN be released?

6.20 TN HEN will be released before Charismas if everything works right. It’s likely to launch in December, not November.

Where can I find 6.20 TN HEN?

6.20 TN HEN will be sold worldwide, and users will find them on the PSP related websites.

Long-awaited Kinect for Xbox 360 has been released  in the US on Nov 4, and is getting hotter and hotter.

The hackers would definitely not miss this chance to hack Kinect. Although some gamers have failed to make Kinect apply to other devices besides Xbox 360 console. A US company named as Adafruit Industries offers $2000 bounty for developing Kinect open source in order to make Kinect  work on other  platforms like PC.

On Nov 7, Adafruit Industries shows that Kinect has been hacked. According to the video below, a hacker has already taken control of the Kinect, which can already fulfill general recognition in PC platform. Although the function is quite simple, it means a lot for Kinect further hacking.

Obviously, Microsoft will not allow this kind of hacking. A spokesperson said that “With Kinect, Microsoft built in numerous hardware and software safeguards designed to reduce the chances of product tampering. Microsoft will continue to make advances in these types of safeguards and work closely with law enforcement and product safety groups to keep Kinect tamper-resistant.”

But Phillip Torrone, a member of Adafruit, told CNET by e-mail.”It’s  amazing hardware that shouldn’t just be locked up for Xbox 360, Its ‘radar camera’ being able to get video and distance as a sensor input from commodity hardware is huge.”

Yeah, let’s looking forward to the further development of Kinect hacking. Or, what measures will Microsoft take?

Top speed at 407 km/h (253 mph), the security becomes the biggest challenge. High strength carbon body makes Veyron 16.4 scores high in the crash test. The special superspeed tires also provide fine controls and security insurance in extraordinary speed.
When you see this W16 monster bearing down on your speeding Racer Car, it’s best to just pull over and curl up into a ball, you’re not going to outrun a cop Veyron under any circumstances. The only car that would make it a fair fight is another Veyron, and those are pretty hard to come by, even in Hot Pursuit.
Carbon Motors E7

Carbon Motors, a company founded by former police officer and Ford executive William Santana Li, hopes to change that stereotype with the E7, a purpose-built Cop Car powered by a 3-liter diesel engine, and designed to last twice as long as the current vehicles employed by police departments. Carbon Motors E7 accept the order in their official website now, and is going to be thrown to a quantity to produce in 2012.
Every feature on the Carbon Motors E7 is designed with on-the-job cops in mind: with seats tailored specifically for comfort while wearing a duty belt, 360-degree surveillance capability with fully automatic recording, an automatic license plate recognition system, integrated aerodynamic emergency lights with sirens and integrated shotgun and rifle mounts, this car is a cop’s dream.The Carbon Motors E7 engine can accelerate from 0-60 in only 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph, so if an E7 are bearing down on you in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, you’ll be in for a rough ride.

In Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, the Challenger is an excellent cop cruiser, with ample power and plenty of weight. Three colors-black, silver and orange-are available and a identified number are marked for each Challenger. Equipped with low-drag aluminum Brembo brakes, the Challenger can go from 0-60-0 in fewer than 17 seconds, so even if you think you can out-turn it, this car will be on your tail again in seconds.
With its full-width taillights, classic circular headlights, receding grille and gorgeous overall design, there’s no mistaking this Challenger for anything else.

With the Mustang line freshened for 2011, the GT500 was also a beneficiary, getting a brand new aluminum 5.4-liter V8 which helps the car shed more than 100 pounds from the previous model’s iron block. Also new to the engine is the addition of plasma-coating, which was patented by Ford as a matter of making the engine lighter.
Ford Shelby GT500 engine increase power from 540 horsepower in the previous generation to 550. Handling was improved when the car was lowered 11 millimeters at the front and 8 millimeters in the rear, and the addition of Ford’s new Electric Power Assisted Steering makes maneuvering the car easier.
If you’ve seen the trailer, the GT500 gets taken care of pretty handily by the Koenigsegg CCX. Hop in the driver’s seat and give it redemption in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.

The McLaren MP4-12C is a sports car designed and manufactured by McLaren Automotive. The car’s final design was unveiled on 8 September 2009, and it is set to be launched in 2011. Now you’ll get the chance to evade the cops in McLaren MP4-12V in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, but can you handle the awesome power of its twin-turbo 3.4-liter V8?
The MP4-12C feature a carbon fibre composite chassis, and will be powered by a mid-mounted McLaren M838T 3.8-litre V8 twin-turbo engine developing approximately 592 horsepower(441 kW; 600 PS) and around 443 lb·ft (601 N·m) of torque. The car will make use of F1 technologies such as “brake steer”, where the inside rear wheel is braked during fast cornering to reduce understeer.
Nissan GT-R SpecV (R35)

At first glance, the Nissan GT-R SpecV looks very similar to the standard GT-R, and if you check under the hood, the story is largely the same: there’s no increase in horsepower, torque, or engine displacement, but the SpecV does have one major advantage. Extensive use of carbon fiber on its interior, including the center console, dash trim, and front seats, as well as removal of the rear seats, help the SpecV shave 60kg off its base-model cousin’s frame.
Despite the aforementioned lack of new power – the car retains the 3.8-liter, 485-horse V6 standard in the GT-R – the decreased weight of the SpecV lowers its 0-60 time from 3.8 seconds to a miniscule 3.2, matching the legendary McLaren F1.
