Gaming blog Joystiq Web site claimed that a new generation of Xbox 360 system software will allow the Xbox 360 console using the USB mass storage devices.

Joystiq Web site claimed that in the next few months, Xbox 360 system software update will make USB storage devices can be used as storage devices. This feature can make the greatest memory of the console can be extended to 16GB, and USB storage device can serve as a Xbox 360 console hardware drives. Users can use USB storage device to store Live Arcade games, movies, downloaded content on the Internet at the same time, you can not use the CD-ROM drive to run the Xbox 360.

The Joystiq site also pointed out that, users should not be too happy if have USB Hub and flash. Xbox 360 system currently only supports two USB storage devices. This means that a user can have up to two 16GB partitions, the maximum storage capacity is only 32GB.
